August 16, 2020 – Worship Resource

Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost
Sunday, August 16th, 2020

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart.
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought by day and by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

CALL TO WORSHIP – Bob & Tanya Faucette

(to be read in unison or between people in your home)
When hatred and division separate us,
God’s love binds us together.
When quarrels estrange us from one another,
Christ’s light shows us the way to reconciliation.
When we feel excluded and left out,
The Spirit’s peace eases our pain.
When all hope of fellowship seems lost,
God’s grace restores our hope.
Come! Let us worship God, who makes us one.

HYMN OF PRAISE – “All Hail the Power of Jesus’Name” CORONATION

All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let Angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, ye ransomed from the fall.
Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.
Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.

Let every kindred, every tribe, on this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe, and crown Him Lord of all.
To Him all majesty ascribe, and crown Him Lord of all.

O that with yonder sacred throng we at His feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.
We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP – Rev. Aho

CHILDREN’S TIME – Mrs. Debbie Pittard

SCRIPTURE READING – Psalm 133 Mr. Jimmy Williams

PASTORAL PRAYER – Rev. Aho
Eternal God, source of all our inspiration,
Bless all our schools, from preschools to colleges, and universities
that they may be safe and lively centers for sound learning,
new discovery, and the pursuit of all wisdom.

Provide wisdom, courage, and patience
to the administrators and teachers
who lead and teach our children
during these unique days.

We all pray for patience within our circumstances,
and we pray for compassion for those who seek
to provide excellent instruction and care.

Throughout this coming year, we pray that all will learn and grow,
and ultimately, through your love displayed by all of us,
others will know your abundant love and care. Amen

MUSIC MEDITATION – “The Servant Song” arr., T. Fettke
Sanctuary Choir

Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.
We are pilgrims on a journey; we’re together on this road.
We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.

I will hold the Christ light for you in the nighttime of your fear.
I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear.
I will weep when you are weeping. When you laugh, I’ll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow till we’ve seen this journey through.

When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such harmony.
Born of all we’ve know together of Christ’s love and agony.
Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you.
Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.

MESSAGE – “Who Will We Be Today” Rev. Aho
Matthew 11:25-30

OUR OFFERINGS
Taking an offering is an act of worship and a part of our service each week. It is important to remember that our offering not only supports the ministry of the church but is an expression of our thankfulness for all God has given us. We give today
because God first gave to us.

BENEDICTION
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
