SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
July 12, 2020
Centered on God’s Spirit, we come to nourish the soil of our lives.
Planted in God’s grace we are prepared to grow in
God’s word as we live in the love of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP – Oxford Baptist Youth
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred; may we offer love;
Where there is division; may we work for unity;
Where there is error; may we stand for truth;
Where there is injury; may we offer pardon;
Where there is doubt; may we demonstrate faith;
Where there is despair; may we point to hope;
Where there is darkness; may we usher in the light;
And where there is sadness; may we discover a comforting joy.
May we unite our voices in faith, unity, and love as we worship today!
HYMN OF PRAISE -“Holy, Holy, Holy” NICAEA
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea.
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who wert and art, and evermore shall be.
Holy, holy, holy! Thought the darkness hide Thee,
though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see.
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea.
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

PASTORAL PRAYER – Rev. Aho
Great Sower of word and truth, when we are confused,
guide us with new understanding;
when we are distressed, help us be faithful and true;
when we are distracted, focus us with your Holy Spirit;
when we are worried, comfort us with your blessed assurance.
Nourish the soil of our lives,
that we may be fertile recipients of your word
and faithful followers of Christ Jesus.
In your mercy and love, we pray. Amen.
MUSIC MEDITATION – “Thy Word” arr., J. Schrader
Lilli Brooks, Emma Hicks, Maya Lloyd, Adison Sadler, Mia Satterwhite, Kadence Woodlief
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
When I feel afraid, think I’ve lost my way,
Still you’re there right beside me. And nothing will I fear
as long as you are near. Please be near me to the end.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
I will not forget Your love for me and yet, my heart forever is wandering.
Jesus be my Guide, and hold me to your side,
and I will love you to the end.
Thy word is a map unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
OUR OFFERINGS
Taking an offering is an act of worship and a part of our service each week. It is important to remember that our offering not only supports the ministry of the church but is an expression of our thankfulness for all God has given us. We give today because God first gave to us.
BENEDICTION
We go to be seeds of Christ’s love.
We go to scatter seeds of God’s hope.
WE go to bear the fruit of God’s Holy Spirit. Amen.
